Minnie’s Food Pantry Thanksgiving Giveaway!

Cheryl Action Jackson is the founder of Minnie’s Food Pantry in Plano. They helped provide over 4,000 Thanksgiving meals this year. Here are some highlights of this amazing giveaway made possible by our gracious partners, donors, volunteers, and staff.
This pandemic has brought a lot of challenges to Minnie’s Food Pantry. Last year, we had 628 volunteers. This year we had 150 volunteers. Last year we had 2,000 signed up to receive a Thanksgiving meal and this year over 4,000 people signed up!
Despite the low volunteers and extra safety precautions – we were able to provide over 4,000 meals to those in need.
Thank you Mark Cuban for paying our staff so this could happen – it would have not been possible without his support!
Thank you to USAA, my friends at HEB, Kroger, and Albertsons. They saw the need in our community and helped us come together to make this successful.
Emerald City Band and the Dallas Mavericks came out and provided entertainment which we are ever so grateful for. They kept us motivated and put a smile on the thousands of people who came through our drive up to get their Thanksgiving meal.
The face of hunger has changed. This pandemic has changed what hunger has looked like. We will keep talking about it and addressing it – for Thanksgiving and beyond.
